This song reminds me of Travis and some of the songs on The Man Who. Can't think of which though. Maybe As We Are. But this band is a lot softer or as they express it: their influence is silence. Perfect songs after a nice morningworkout. Please visit their website!

Audioslave is great post-work-out-music! My body is exhausted and Chris Cornells voice is so soothing. Two songs, Shape of Things to Come and Wide Awake, is featured in Miami Vice (2006), which I saw the other day. Colin Farrell made it worth it!

Even though I'm a music geek, I don't know everything. The latest album Wonderlustre by Skunk Anansie was released in September 2010, but released on Spotify just the other day. Skunk Anansie reunited in 2009, but their comeback didn't reach me until yesterday. But whatever, it's still an amazing comeback! I think Wonderlustre is even better than Stoosh. Just loved it from the very beginning! After listening to it once You Saved Me and It Doesn't Matter are my faves!

The Smiths - Bigmouth Stikes Again

First song of today in my head. It can have something to do with me listening to The Smiths yesterday, which in turn was a result of me getting the line "Good times for a change" in my head, which obviously is followed by "see, the luck I've had can make a good man turn bad". The Smiths was one of the best bands ever! This song also proves it: "There is a light that never goes out".

I just found this song on Blalock's Best of 2010 and it really reminds me of Best of Umeå 2010 when the best corridor ever had fun in the snow. Great times!

The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt is a crazy indie band from New York. Their album is called "Have the best day of your life!". I love these types of indie bands, just playing for fun, really fun! Writing fun lyrics! I love the lyrics to this song. Especially the second verse describing this fun gang (see above) and this line: "Oh fuck what you're told! We don't have to grow old! I don't care what dad's say! Cause today's our snowday!".

Other songs like after listening to that album once is: Snakebites, Grouphug and In Your Face Sickiness - Are Blood Rainbows. F*cking awesome!!!

By coincidence while I was looking for "a sad" song on Spotify by Woodpidgon, I found this amazing band, Arctic Plateau. Shoegaze in its best moment! Arctic Plateau is, believe it or not, from Italy! And "On a Sad Sunny Day" is their first album. ..I just checked up the website and bio. It is actually "a one man band formed by Gianluca Divirgilio, Italian musician and author". So that's cool! Please listen to this band! It is absolutely amazing! You will regret it if you don't! I'm serious!

My music year 2010

I’m gonna try to summarize my music year 2010. Two things definitely changed my music life: 1. I bought an iPod and 2. I got an Spotify invite! If you don’t have these two things, get them! Love the music wherever you go!

The 8th of November I had my own" Cati Music Awards" and you can check out the best new act, pop, rock, male artist, female artist, albums and songs of 2010. Two months later I have hard to decide if Eminem or Arcade Fire made the best album. And Robyn definitely should have been nominated for best female instead of Lady Gaga. And maybe Junip should have got the nomination that I gave to Björn Kleinhenz, I’m still not sure. What I am 100 % sure of is that Not Afraid by Eminem was the best song of 2010! Florence + The Machine with Dog Days Are Over got a nice second place and Arcade Fire could have made third place with a bunch of songs, but Empty Room is currently my favourite!

One of many things that I like about indie bands is that they are able to cover completely soulless songs and make them into songs about real human beings and sing them like they acctually mean and/or feel it! Who would have thought that an Ace of Base-song could be this cool (if you are over 10 years old)!?

I also like when indie bands are covering other indie bands. For example:

An epic song! And being close to Christmas right now, it also feels a little bit like a Chrismas song, but most of all it feels like a song everyone can relate to. Except those people that are freakishly lucky! I really like the She & Him-version of it too. I couldn't find that version anywhere but on Blalock's Indie/Rock Playlist from September 2009. I hope you can find it! There is an endless amount of covers on this song. But still, Morrissey (The Smiths) is the only one who sounds like he accually NEVER ever got anything he wanted before, which of course is extremly sad and "ångestframkallande" (ENG: anxiety-provoking).

The Radio Dept. har definitivt varit kritikerrosat. Lite pinsamt faktiskt att ja inte har haft koll på svensk indie. Men efter att i år ha upptäckt ovannämnda band så kommer det att bli en ändring 2011!

13:e december. Lucia. Den här dagen inleddes med jättefint luciatåg/sång/fika på slottet, men istället för att fortsätta dagen fridfullt, blev den bara mer och mer speedad. Det blir knappast bättre av att lyssna på Infected Mushroom, vilket jag har gjort hela kvällen. Men Snow Patrols jullåt finns nu på Spotify så den har ja faktiskt lyssnat på. When I Get Home For Christmas heter den. Och den passar ju väldigt bra - mindre än en vecka kvar tills jag har LoveIsland under mina fötter. Snow Patrols jullåt känns lite jul och mycket Snow Patrol. Filmen Inglorious Basterds av Quentin Tarantino är som väntat helt otrolig! Och som vanligt har Tarantino gjort helt perfekta musikval till scenerna. Här är ett klipp där han pratar om bland annat Ennio Morricone. Han är en sån liten, konstig, sexig filmnörd! Å när jag säger liten så menar jag den största nörden som gått på den här planeten! Å se vart det tog honom! Det finns int en enda anledning varför man int skulle knäböj framför honom!
Angående Ennio Morricone, som jag förknippat med det kända spåret till "The good, the bad, the ugly". Dock har spagettivästernfilmer aldrig intresserat mig så därför har jag även missat storheten i denna italienska mästare i filmmusikgenren. Men nu ska ja njuta av soundtracket med en mix av gamla Morricone verk. David Bowies Cat People (Putting Out The Fire) är också riktigt bra...

Mitt nya favoritprogram på TV är "Sommarpratarna" som går på SVT. Fem sommarpratare från P1:s "Sommar" samlas för att diskutera sina upplevelser. Fascinerande "socialt experiment". Känns äkta. Jag tror det var Winnerbäcks Elegi som spelades i senaste avsnittet (#3). Sommarfeelis!

Idag, femton år senare, har jag märkt att Urge Overkill är så mycket mer än bara Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon. Har alltid älskat den låten! Nu lyssnar jag på låtar från albumen The Supersonic Storybook (1991) och Saturation (1993). Nice!

Aaah, rock från ljuva 90-tal. Tror ja ska lyssna på lite Bon Jovi sen ikväll! Annars så tycker ja att man int ska dömma musiker efter hur dom klär sig, för se bara på Stefan Sundström...!)

Här är ännu en annan sida av Urge Overkill... Take A Walk från "No Alternative", en välgörenhetsplatta mot HIV/AIDS 1994. Även Sonic Youth och The Smashing Pumpkins m.fl. var med på den. Gjorde en hel playlist av de låtar jag kunde hitta och improviserade resten... Enjoy! Den e bra!
